Shade variations in your tiles

To avoid unpleasant surprises during the installation of your tiles, it is important to know that there is a scale to determine tile variation. The term « shade variation » refers to differences in color and/or texture of the same product. They are classified by codes ranging from V1 to V4. These variations are generally greater for tiles that imitate noble materials such as wood, stone or marble.

V1 Uniform Appearance

V2 Slight Variation

V3 Moderate Variation

V4 Strong Variation

Here is a summary of the
4 categories and their meaning.

V2 : Slight variation

Subtle differences in texture and/or pattern with shades in similar tones.

V4: Strong variation

Marked color differences from one tile to another, so that one tile can have totally different colors from the others. The contrasts are obvious and used to represent the natural materials that inspired the collection. The installation of a V4 variation tile is recommended on a large surface to enhance the desired effect. Again, it is strongly recommended to open several boxes and place the tiles to create a more homogeneous effect.

V1: Uniform Appearance

Differences between tiles in the same batch are non-existent or very minimal.

V3 : Moderate variation

Although the colors on a single tile are representative of the colors that can be expected on other tiles, their texture and/or pattern can vary considerably. Without compromising the homogeneity of the final result, it is still advisable to open several boxes and place the tiles to create a natural effect.
