Residential Project

Soft Sensations

The large format tile is king!

This house in Blainville, a suburb of Montreal, is a great demonstration that thin, large-format porcelain tiles can be used on the floor or on the wall anywhere in a residence. Edith by Edith Bouchard Designer, wanted to create here a contemporary open space combining beauty and functionality. Large tiles fit beautifully into the whole project. The result is truly spectacular!

The ground floor has two main focal points: the splendid glass cellar and above all the ubiquitous foyer. To incorporate this exceptional fireplace perfectly into the decor, the designer suggested framing it with oversized 60” X 120” porcelain panels finished in Marmi Statuario marble from the Ultra collection, 6 mm thick. It is a magnificent setting with exceptional volumes that gives a distinctive look to this wall.

The installation of underfloor heating in all rooms was a client requirement. The designer, wanting to maximize the floor space while minimizing the number of joints, chose to use 40” x 40” 6 mm thick tiles from the Resine Silicio color Ultra collection throughout the residence. The surfaces thus composed are imposing and form the continuous frame of the decor.

In the kitchen, 24” x 48” Silver tiles from the K Slate collection create a backsplash that discreetly blends into the back wall of the meal preparation area. It offers an interesting counterweight to the darker colors of the central island. The set constitutes an informal convivial space where it is good to meet before, during and after a meal with the family.

Large format tiles really know how to create magnified spaces that are out of the ordinary. They will not leave anyone indifferent to their elegance
